• The installer is MacBinary encoded and will be automatically decoded after downloading.

Instructions

• After downloading, uncompress and extract the distribution. On Unix, you would do this by typing these commands:
  

  > gunzip smd20b.tar.gz
  > tar xvf smd20b.tar
  > cd SMD

• To run SMD, type (on Unix):
  

  > java -cp smd:jimi.jar LJ

• To run SMD Player, type (on Unix):
  

  > java -cp smdplayer:jimi.jar MovieViewer



Notes

• This download does not contain a Java Virtual Machine. These applications require the Java 2 Runtime Environment. You can find out the version you have by typing the Unix command:
  

  > java -version

• If you do not have Java installed on your platform or you do not have the Java 2 Runtime, please consult your Unix vendor's Web site or http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/ for information regarding how to install the correct Java runtime for your platform.
• This download is a minimum install containing only the Java classes for our applications. It does not contain any pre-saved movies which are available in the full Windows and Macintosh distributions. We will soon be making public a "movie download" page.
